Earthquakes can be frightful events for people who have never experienced one or when they are high on the Richter Scale. The most important thing to remember to ensure you survive is to remain calm. In most cases people who panic and run-out of building while the ground is still shaking may end up sealing their fates. Another two important things to keep in mind are: preparation and awareness.

If you feel the ground begin to shake, remain indoors until the shaking and trembling stop or it’s safe to go outdoors. A lot of injuries and deaths occur during earthquakes when individuals run out of buildings and get struck or crushed by flying debris or objects. It is better to remain calm, stay indoors and cover your vital organs and head. Once everything is clear and the shaking has stopped calmly evacuate the building or home. If you happen to be outdoors, move to an open area and away from buildings, streetlights, utility poles, bridges and trees. For people who are driving exit your vehicle, kneel next to it while protecting your head and ensure you are not under any bridges or anything that can crush you.

Always prepare for the unpredictable and unstoppable, earthquakes. Another important precaution one can take is to, put together an emergency food supply kit and an emergency kit. The food supplies should be enough for about one month incase help doesn’t arrive as soon as you might expect it to. Your emergency kit should contain, a radio, batteries, candles, important documents, dry clothes, blankets, medical supplies, toys for children and anything that will make things easier to cope with.

Be aware of your surroundings and the disasters that are prevalent to the area you live in or are visiting. Natural disasters strike without much warning and some don’t have a time of year or day. By taking these precautions your chances of surviving will increase, drastically.

Don’t be a casualty of a natural disaster, be a survivor by preparing, anticipating and always remaining calm, even as the world seems to be ending before you eyes. There will be a tomorrow but not for you is you panic or fail to prepare. Ensure there will be a tomorrow, by remaining calm and keeping yourself safe.

In the event of natural disaster such as: tornados, earthquakes, floods, hurricanes and other types, people must be prepared. Preparation is everything and your chances for survival are greatly reduced if you’re not prepared. We all know natural disasters are not preventable but relatively predictable, with that in mind we must prepare for them.

How would one prepare for such disaster? There are many ways to prepare you and your family for such a disaster. The most important thing is to setup an executable emergency plan, go over evacuation drills with your family, like schools do for fire safety and earthquakes. Outline a plan and practice executing the plan. That plan will vary depending on the geographic location in which you reside. You don’t need to prepare for a hurricane if you live in Nebraska.

The first part of any emergency plan should include shelter to take cover from the disaster and temporary shelter for after the disaster in case your home is destroyed. The type of shelter you will need will vary depending on the disaster your up against. For example, hiding in a basement during a hurricane, near the coast is probably not safe. In this case, your shelter should be far enough inland to avoid the powerful winds and flood waters that are likely to hit the coastal regions.

The second part of your plan should include emergency food supplies, water, clothing and other survival resources. You will need to sustain yourself and your family in the event of a natural disaster without help from the authorities for sometime. It’s important to have enough water to stay hydrated, plenty of food to keep your energy up and dry clothing to keep warm. This is where longevity comes into play. You need food that has a long shelf life because you never know how long it will take for help to arrive.

If you prepare ahead of time your chances for survival will be much greater. So make an emergency plan, practice executing the plan, be prepared when the time comes and you will be a survivor.

Tsunamis are among the deadliest and powerful natural disasters that usually follow an earthquake and can cripple or wipe out an entire coastal community. In order to protect yourself from such a powerful force if you live or are visiting a coastal community. Head for high ground immediately when you are alerted of a tsunami warning or an earthquake hits the area. In areas where there are no high areas move inland and/or away from the body of water. Once you get a safe location stay tuned to local radio and Tsunami Warning Center updates so you when the water recedes or it’s safe to return. An emergency food storage supply will be very useful to eat until help arrives. Safety should be your number one priority, not heroism.

Once you hear a tsunami warning act quickly since you may only have minutes to reach a safe area. Failing to act quickly will result in major injuries and maybe even death. If you were not able to reach safe ground find something that will survive the powerful waves or attempt to find an object that will allow you to use it as a floating device. However, you will be a lot safer on high ground or inland than trying to hold on for your life or float until the waves recede.

Some areas, such as Hawaii, have Civil Defense Sirens and evacuation routes to warn island residents of tsunamis and to make evacuations faster. So if you are visiting or lie in an area where tsunamis predominant, always be alert and aware of tsunamis since the time you have to react is limited. Be a survivor by doing your research and knowing what to do. Lastly, tsunamis can strike at anytime of the year, day or night.

Will you be ready to survive when the ground begins to shake and things begin to fall of the shelves? Earthquakes strike with no warning and can’t be predicted up until now. The only things we can do to survive are prepare and plan for them. In order to survive an earthquake or reduce the impact; everyone in your household must be included in the planning phase. This can be done by setting up a disaster plan, an emergency kit and an emergency food storage supply to keep everyone safe and fed until help arrives.

The first step in preparing for an earthquake is to begin drafting a disaster plan, it doesn’t have to be anything too complicated or detailed. Some of the things that can be included in the plan are: designating the safest place in the home during an earthquake, establish an out-of-state contact person, set up a meeting place after the shaking stops, make sure everyone knows to cover vital organs, stay away from glass, windows and mirrors, avoid rooms that have items that can be sent flying and establish a mode of contact that everyone has access to.

Second setup an emergency kit. The items don’t have to be purchased all at once. Pick up a few items every time you go to the store to make it easier on the pocketbook. Some items that should be included in your kit are: radio, batteries, medical supplies, flashlights, candles, blankets, two-way radios and anything else that will make a bad situation better. Prepare an emergency food supply to ensure everyone has plenty to eat until help arrives. Pack enough food for about one month in case a federal emergency is declared and help doesn’t reach in a timely manner.

These are just a few quick and simply ways to prepare and ensure everyone survives the next quake. Don’t depend or place your loved one’s safety on others or the government, when you can provide them with alternatives to keep them safe during an earthquake.

When we hear about natural disasters affecting other countries or regions, hardly anyone thinks about one striking close to home. However, natural disasters can’t be avoided and some can’t be predicted. Which leaves us nothing else to do but prepare for them. It doesn’t take a nature survivalist or a natural disaster expert to get you ready. To begin preparing for a natural disaster one must identify common occurring disasters in the region they are located in. Once you are aware of the naturally occurring disasters, it’s time to being preparing for them.

Start off by mapping out an emergency disaster plan with your family, to ensure they know how to evacuate, meeting or seek refuge. The plan doesn’t not have to be over-elaborate just clear enough so that everyone is informed. Begin compiling an emergency kit with everything needed to treat minor injuries and/or wounds, a radio, batteries, blankets, important documents, flashlights, candles and two-way radios. You will also need and emergency food supply, bottled water, water filters or water purification tablets. To make preparing you don’t have to go out and purchase everything at once, pick up a few things every time you go to the grocery, home improvement or retail store.

Natural disaster strike every country and region, therefore no one is immune from them. It just depends on the disasters that are the most common in your region. All natural disasters are serious. It can mean the difference between life and death. It’s very important for us to take warnings seriously. Put forth every effort to be prepared ahead of time. One my affect you at anytime, will you be ready?

Being prepared will help save your life and your families. Take some time perhaps 20 minutes to go over with your family these vital actions. Make sure everyone knows what their roles are when a natural disaster strikes. It’s up to you to keep your family safe.

Economic hardships and recessions are inevitable. Either you or someone in your family will or has experienced one, but how you survive or ride it out will depend on you. We are currently living in a time where most people spend their money before it’s earned: credit cards. In fact most people wouldn’t be able to survive economically if the company they work goes out-of-business. They have failed to establish or set up a savings account or begin saving for the future. Therefore in order to ride out an economic slowdown or crisis, you must begin saving and planning for the future, today.

To being planning and/or saving for the future there is no need to save half of your paycheck, start off small but soon. You can eliminate one or two restaurant meals per month, set up a budget, cancel your credit cards, hold-off on upgrading vehicles, purchase food when it’s on sale to begin a food storage supply, don’t purchase the latest gadgets to hit the market, reduce your debt and downgrade any current service plans you may be using. Once you make these cuts, it’s time to begin setting a few hundred dollars aside per month in a savings or other type of account.

Making these tough cuts are not popular with anyone but they are necessary. Living paycheck to paycheck is not a smart way of approaching or preparing for the future. However, in order to ensure you stay on track is; discipline is very important. Every family member must ensure they stick the agreed budget or your preparation will not be effective.

Economic hardships are almost guaranteed how you survive or ride them out will depend on your preparation and your savings account. Unemployment checks are not enough to cover all your expenses and bills not mention that it will not last forever. Ensure your family doesn’t suffer because of your lack of planning. Begin planning making the changes to your spending habits, right away!

Economic crisis can strike at any time during one’s lifetime. They can affect single families or an entire country. To prevent or to make it less financially painful, preparation is an important factor. However, time doesn’t stop during hard financial times kids get older and will need financial assistance to attend a higher learning institution. Failing to prepare for the future is the difference between your kids succeeding and not growing into their full potential. Below are a few ways to avoid financial problems and allow parents to assist their children financially when they are in school:

Start saving early for their tuition.

Encourage them to study harder to get at least a partial scholarship.

Don’t splurge on unnecessary items: iPods and latest electronic gadgets.

Have them attend any free food events on campus; this will help you save your money on food and use it towards books and tuition.

In our society, money is everything. Money determines how or if you eat, how comfortably you live, how you dress, who you associate with, and most likely your overall outlook on life. Money affects things that are bigger than that though too (i.e. wars, political control, and the overall economy of any given country!). So when an economic crisis occurs, one must learn to get the most out of a single dollar. Here are a few ways to achieve this:

Learn to differentiate between ‘needs’ and ‘wants’: To save money, it’s easy to forgo buying a new car and maybe take a bike. However, trying to distinguish a luxury from a necessity can go much deeper than that. For example, I was once told that “anything pre-packaged, processed, and ready-to-eat” was a luxury. This person also went on to say that meats and fresh foods were also luxuries. If you think about it, though, they really are. When you want to cut back on your spending, forgo the fast food. Forget the Hamburger Helper. Try buying the raw ingredients and spicing them up to your own liking. The nice thing about that is that you’re not only saving money, but you’re also honing your culinary prowess.

Shop around for the best prices: This sounds a little self-explanatory, but in our day and age it pays to spend a little extra time looking for a deal. The Internet can be a useful tool for doing so, especially with larger purchases. Shop around for good deals, and shop around often. Don’t be afraid to take advantage of the price-match guarantee that many stores offer!

USE COUPONS: Though buying generic or store-brand food is generally the best way to go, using coupons on brand names can be a money-saver as well. Most newspapers offer a coupon insert on Sundays, and the Internet is chock-full of printable coupons. For example, I once saw a coupon in an insert for $3 off a box of Splenda sweetener. That week, at the store, the same exact Splenda was on sale for 3 for $10 (so the price of each box came out to $3.33). I used my coupon and ended up paying $.33 for a box of sweetener–much cheaper than buying a store-brand box! Also once you notice that non-perishable foods are on sale stock up and begin a storage food supply

Of course, there are many other ways to save money, but these are my favorite few ways in order to help you get the most out of your dollar. Happy Savings!

One of the most important steps you can take in preparing for natural disasters or economic crisis is to develop a household disaster plan and a spending budget. Immediately after an emergency, essential services may be cut-off and local disaster relief and government responders may not be able to reach you right away. During an economic crisis it is important to limit spending and if at all possible establish a savings account. The key to surviving disasters or economic crisis is preparation and anticipation.

Natural disasters can strike at any moment without any warning in some cases. Earthquakes are a perfect example, whenever large earthquakes strike they leave a tremendous amount of damages and casualties. Take the last one that was experienced by the people of Japan. Immediately following the earthquake they were hit by a tsunami. The combination of the earthquake and the tsunami broke down a nuclear power plant’s cooling system that spilled large amounts of radiation into the surrounding areas. As a result thousands of people had to evacuate and will dealing with the loss of loved ones. So how can they have prepared for an earthquake of that magnitude?

To prepare for an earthquake it is essential to have a disaster plan in place and well as emergency supplies. If you already don’t have a plan in place, consider implementing one with the help of your family members. It doesn’t have to be very complex, just include the basics: locate the safest place in the home during and earthquake, have a meeting place, designate an out-of-state person as the contact person, pack an emergency kit and prepare an emergency food supply.

Preparing for economic crisis is a bit more complicated because it requires that you stay disciplined with your spending. During economic slowdowns if you don’t have the money to spend don’t do it. Instead of buy lunch everyday consider packing a lunch, don’t buy $5 cups of coffee, purchase generic food, down grade on your utility bills and trade-in gas guzzling vehicles for more economic ones. These are just a few places where you can cutback, certainly if you analyze your spending you can come up with more.

Follow these simple preparation steps to ride out natural disasters and economic crisis and you will live a less stressful life.
